Brand New Stephenie Meyer Novella

Stephenie Meyer, image copyright Press release from Steph’s publicist:

THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER: AN ECLIPSE NOVELLA

NOVELLA ORIGINALLY CONCEIVED AS SHORT STORY FOR THE TWILIGHT SAGA: THE OFFICIAL GUIDE

ONE DOLLAR FROM EACH BOOK SOLD IN THE US WILL BE DONATED TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS FOR INTERNATIONAL RELIEF EFFORTS

NEW YORK, NY (March 30, 2010) – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, has announced today that it will release the first new title from Stephenie Meyer in nearly two years. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is a novella told from the point of view of Bree, a character originally featured in Eclipse. The novella (at 192 pages) will be released at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in hardcover for $13.99 with a first printing of 1.5 million copies. One dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile.*

“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella,” said Stephenie Meyer. “When I began working on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I was editing at the time. I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the Guide would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it was too long to fit into the Guide.”

As a special thank you to fans, Meyer is giving them exclusive access to the novel on a dedicated website, www.breetanner.com, from June 7 to July 5, 2010 where fans from around the world will be able to read the book online in English. “I’d always considered The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans,” said Meyer. “They have been so supportive of all things Twilight.”

Visitors to the dedicated site will also find a link to the American Red Cross website (www.redcross.org), where they can make a donation and learn more about their relief efforts worldwide. “I have been moved by the generous outpouring of support for the recent crises in Haiti and Chile,” said Meyer. “I am glad that sales of this book will support the American Red Cross with their amazing efforts abroad.”

“Fans have been waiting with bated breath for a new book from Stephenie,” said Megan Tingley, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. “We are doubly thrilled to be giving them the opportunity to read this exciting new work as well as contribute to an important cause at the same time.”

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is the riveting story of Bree Tanner, a newborn vampire first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the world she inhabits. The novella chronicles the newborn vampire army’s journey as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

The character Bree not only features prominently in the book Eclipse, but in the upcoming movie from Summit Entertainment. “Stephenie was gracious enough to let me read a draft of the novella while we were prepping the movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” said Director David Slade. “I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it gave us great insight and inspired location choices and the tailoring of scenes. I think fans are going to love the fascinating details involved in the loves, fears and actions of an emerging vampire.”

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will also be available as an ebook beginning at 6:00 a.m. EST on June 5, 2010. Additionally, more information about the previously announced The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, including publication date, will be released by the end of the year.

In less than five years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga’s translation rights have been sold in nearly 50 countries and 100 million copies have been sold worldwide.”

It seems like Stephenie Meyer has decided to add onto the Twilight Saga in some way.  Is anybody else looking forward to this.

Crescendo Summary Released

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The other day Becca Fitzpatrick, the author of New York Times Best Seller Hush Hush revealed a summary to CRESCENDO, which is the sequel to Hush Hush! Plus she also clarified details that the cover is to be revealed April 10, 2010. CRESCENDO is due in stores everywhere November 16, 2010. So start marking your calendars everyone.

Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described as anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can’t figure out if it’s for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy, Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The further Nora delves into the mystery of her father’s death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim bloodline has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn’t answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

loved classic children’s stories of all time. Originally written as a “girls” story, its appeal transcends the boundaries of time and age, making it as popular with adults as it is with young readers. For this is a beguiling story of happiness and hope, of the joys of companionship, domestic harmony and infinite mother love, all seen through the life of the March family. But which of the four March sisters to love best? For every reader must have their favorite. Independent, tomboyish Jo; delicate, loving Beth; pretty, kind Meg, or precocious and beautiful Amy, the baby of the family? Little Women was an instant success when first published in 1868, and followed only a year later by the sequel, Little Wives.”-Barnes & Noble

In Short
I just finished Little Women earlier today and it is officially my favorite book now.  It amazes me how books never die.  They can withstand time and a well cherished book in the 1800 can also be highly admired in the 20th century.  I absolutely loved Little Women from the characters to the story layout.
I think what makes an excellent classic- or even a good book- is an excellent protagonist and great supporting characters.  Through them, the author must tell a story that will be well loved for ages.  In Little Women all of the characters are unique and different, but they each share a common bond with each other.  Personally, my favorite character was Jo and I believe we are most alike.  Louisa May Alcott did an excellent job by creating the characters that I often found myself in tears because I was able to feel the characters emotions, feelings, and understand their thoughts as if they were apart of me.  I also believe that most characters are straight from the heart of the author.  Almost as if they are reflection of what the author was, is, or what they strive to be, and that is what makes the art of writing so beautiful.
I believe every young adult (especially females) should read this book because it’s full of lessons you can use to carry on with you in life.  That’s another reason I like classics, the themes in them are always so meaningful.  Throughout the book, I found myself questions my ways of life and how I can change some of them.  The book opened my eyes to things I didn’t see before and gave me a whole new reason to love writing and reading.
I am officially a lover of classics now.  They can give you a view of how life was in the time the book was written and you can compare it with the things that we read today.  In some cases, I think of a book as a time capsule, giving us information about life in the past in an exciting way.
P.S. Thanks everybody for reading and commenting I really appreciate it.  Make sure you spread the word of the blog, the love of reading, and I hope I’m helping unite all book lovers.

Misguided Angel Cover

Misguided Angel, the next book in the Blue Bloods series, cover has finally been released along with a excerpt from the book.

There were seven of us at the inception of the order. A conclave was called to address the growing threat posed by the Paths of the Dead. Along with myself, present at the gathering were the Emperor’s cousin Gemellus, a weakling; Octilla and Halcyon from the vestal virgins; the head of the Imperial Army, General Alexandrus; Pantaelum, a trusted senator and Onbasius, a healer.
In my prodigious research, I have determined that Halcyon was most likely the keeper of the Gate of Promise, the third known Gate of Hell. I have come to the conclusion that this gate is instrumental in uncovering the truth behind the continued existence of our supposedly vanquished enemies. This is the gate we must focus on, the most important one in the lot.

Maximum Ride Movie News

Hey guys,

I have some good news and some bad news.  The good news is that we may found a casting director for the Maximum Ride movies, but the bad news is that movie release date has been moved to 2013.

First, I don’t know if the news of the casting director is valid, but I wanted to get this out in the open.

Sarah Halley Finn
Sarah Finn Company
588 N. Larchmond Blvd.
1st Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90004

I found a this French website when I was trying to dig up more info.

On it they stated, “Pre-production of the first film adapted from the first novel started. This will be the adaptation of Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. The cast[ing] has already started with the company Sarah Halley Finn. Filming will take place including Death Valley and Los Angeles in California and in several areas of Colorado. We already know the name of the director and fans of Twilight will be pleased to know that this is Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first part of the saga Twilight.”

If anybody has more info on this be sure to contact us.
